Available from Swiss CNC, this 2008 Star SR-20RIII CNC sliding head lathe combines 20 mm machining capacity, twin spindles and driven tooling for the production of precision components from bar. Equipped with FANUC Series 300iS-Model A CNC control, it offers versatile turning, milling, drilling, tapping and back-working capability.

The sliding head and guide bush arrangement supports the material close to the cutting point, making the machine particularly suited to small-diameter and slender components. C-axis control on both spindles allows accurately positioned machining features, while the opposed sub-spindle enables rear-face finishing and secondary operations within the same machine cycle.

Independent front- and back-working capability allows operations to overlap where the component and programme permit, helping reduce cycle times and the need for additional handling between machines.
